MANILA -- The low-pressure area (LPA) embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will bring rains over most parts of the country, the state weather bureau said Sunday.

The LPA, last spotted at 390 km. east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, will cause cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over eastern Visayas and Caraga, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will also prevail over Mimaropa, Bicol, and the rest of Visayas and Mindanao due to the ITCZ.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds will blow over Mindanao, western Visayas and Palawan. Coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.

Meanwhile, PAGASA is also monitoring a tropical depression (TD) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

The TD has maximum sustained winds of 45 kph, and gustiness of up to 60 kph. It was last eyed at 985 km. west of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, PAGASA said. (PNA)
