CAMP GEN ALEJO S. SANTOS, Bulacan -- The First Bulacan Provincial Mobile Force Company, headed by its force commander Supt. Ferdinand Germino, on Monday initiated its first “Honesty Store,” located just across its building here.

Senior Supt. Chito Bersaluna, acting provincial director of Bulacan Police Provincial Office, said the main concept of the store is to practice honesty and integrity in real life.

“The store contains assorted goods, wherein customers can take what they need and leave their payment in a small container. The store is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.,” Bersaluna said.

Proceeds will be used to sustain the unit’s community immersion programs, as well as outreach projects, specifically for the elderly of Tahanang Mapagpala (Home for the Aged) located in Barangay Bulihan, City of Malolos, Bulacan.

“That it is essential for every police officer to make honesty as a habit and also make integrity as part of police good moral values,” added Bersaluna.

Meanwhile, Bulacan police commemorated the 107th birthday anniversary of General Alejo S. Santos through wreath-laying in front of his monument located inside the provincial headquarters, which was named after the late general.

The event was graced by one of the late general’s children, Liberty Santos-Dumlao together with World War II veterans from Bustos, this province.

As part of the celebration of Police Community Relations Month, Bersaluna said they also conducted the launching of “Gulayan ng Pulis”, which embodies the Philippine National Police’s motto “Pulis Makakalikasan.”

“In spite of heavy rains last Saturday, the Bulacan police geared with their weapons but this time not with guns but with gardening tools tilled the backyard of provincial headquarters to be ready for sowing vegetable seeds,” he said.

He added that “Gulayan ng Pulis” will be replicated in all the police stations in the province to have their own garden and their harvests will be donated to less fortunate families, and at the same time promote healthy eating. (PNA)
