Drug pushers nabbed, 40 grams ‘shabu’ seized in Cavite

GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite – Joint operatives of the Cavite Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) collared a suspected drug pusher and seized around 40 grams of suspected “shabu” inside the suspect’s house in Tanza town on Wednesday dawn.

Senior Supt. William Segun, Cavite provincial police director, said the joint operatives of the DEU-Provincial Intelligence Branch led by Supt. Agosto Daskeo, Tanza law enforcers led by officer-in-charge Chief Inspector Dhefry Punzalan and General Trias City cops led by their chief of police, Supt. Paul Bometivo, conducted the joint drug bust operations.

Segun said that the suspected drug pusher, Elsid Mendoza Dias, alias 'Kid' of Phase 4, Marycris Complex, Barangay Pasong Camachile 2, GenTri City and his cohorts Raffy Calda Valdez and Joseph Brian Gacuan Argonza were arrested around 1 a.m. Wednesday through a search warrant obtained by the Tanza police against them for violation of Republic Act 9165 , or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.”

While implementing the search warrant and drug-bust operation, suspect Dias rushed to his house to evade arrest.

However, police operatives PO2 Bryan Umipon and PO1 Stanley Gawon chased the fleeing Dias up to his house, where his cohorts Valdez and Argonza were caught sniffing shabu.

“"Ininguso ho ng naaresto namin na drug suspect sa Tanza na ang source daw nya ay nasa nasabing address sa GenTri, kaya ho naaresto namin sila. Salamat ho sa coordination ng GenTri PNP (an arrested drug suspect in Tanza has divulged to the police the source which was traced to the address in GenTri, that’s why we were able to arrest them. We thank the coordination by the GenTri PNP)," said PO2 Kim Harley Hagay, the officer-in-case, in an interview.

The police anti-illegal drug enforcers collared the three suspects and seized 10 medium-sized heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected “shabu” weighing around 40.03 grams.

The DEU operatives also recovered an un-sealed plastic sachet with traces of suspected shabu; two PHP100 bills as marked money; an aluminum foil strip runway with traces of suspected shabu; an improvised glass water pipe tooter; improvised acetone burner; disposable lighter; a brown pouch and a driver’s license card.

The operatives brought the confiscated pieces of evidence to the Cavite Police Provincial Office in Camp Gen. Pantaleon Garcia in Imus City for proper documentation.

The pieces of evidence and the suspects will also be turned over to the Scene of the Crime Operations (SOCO)-Provincial Crime Laboratory Office for lab examination and drug dependency test. (Dennis Abrina/PNA)
