Maynilad lifts water supply rotation as Ipo Dam turbidity improves

MANILA -- Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) has lifted its rotational water availability, the utility firm announced on Friday.

"As of 11 p.m. yesterday, Aug. 16, turbidity (or concentration of sediments) in the raw water from Ipo Dam has decreased to manageable levels. This enabled us to increase water production of our La Mesa Treatment Plants," the water firm said in a statement Friday.

"We have also commenced the filling up of reservoirs so that supply will be enough to meet the weekend water requirements of our customers," it added.

Maynilad, however, advised its customers to keep some stored water in their homes and workplaces to make sure they have stock for daily needs, in case the water firm is again constrained to reduce water production, especially with the erratic weather condition.
On Tuesday, Maynilad announced water interruptions in its coverage areas, as it deals with turbidity in Ipo Dam, brought about by the storm-enhanced heavy rains.

Turbidity had forced the water company to reduce the production of its La Mesa Treatment Plants.

"We apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding," the firm said. (PR)
