BACOOR CITY, Cavite - Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte was amazed on Friday at the musical performance of this city’s local brass bands and festivities as she graced the 347th founding anniversary of Bacoor and its annual 'Bakood Festival.'

City Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla, Cavite 2nd District Rep. Strike Revilla and city officials led their constituents in the rousing welcome to Mayor Inday Sara, who joined them at the thanksgiving mass at historic St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church at the city proper.

The Presidential daughter also led the inauguration of the new Hall of Justice in Barangay Tabing Dagat here with city officials and Executive Judge Eduardo Tanguangco of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 89.

The Davao City Mayor later witnessed the drum and lyre parade along the stretch of Evangelista Street, where thousands of local and foreign tourists watched the festivity highlights.

"Maraming maraming salamat po Bacooreños sa pangunguna po ni Mayor Lani, Vice-Governor Jolo Revilla and Congressman Strike Revilla sa pag-invite ninyo sa akin na maging panauhin sa inyong taunang “Bakood Festival” at 347th founding anniversary (Thank you so much to all Bacooreños led by Mayor Lani, Vice Governor Jolo Revilla and Congressman Strike Revilla for inviting me as your guest of honor for your annual “Bakood Festival” and 347th founding anniversary)," Mayor Sara said.

At Strike gymnasium on Molino Blvd, Mayor Sara also led the distribution of gift packs to local folks.

“Napakasaya po pala ng inyong festival ng mga brass bands dito sa Bacoor (Your festival of brass brands in Bacoor is so festive)," the Davao City mayor saidd.

Mayor Revilla ensures that the yearly celebration will always highlight the rich cultural heritage and progress of the locality through increased community participation and stronger ties with development partners.

She said the Bakood Festival served as thanksgiving celebration to the rapid growth and development of the city, through participative governance by the Bacooreños, since its founding as a town in 1671.

The almost two-week celebration leading to Friday’s culminating highlights also featured an Inter-school Tahong (mussel) Cook Fest at the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (UPHSD)-Molino campus.

Revilla also welcomed the city beauty title winners “Mrs. Universe Philippines Finest 2018” Beau Villanueva Singson; “Mrs. Universe Philippines-Asia 2019” Charo Laude; “Mrs. Philippines Universe 2019” Patricia Javier and Zumba gurus Joshua Zamora and Jopay Zamora, who led the One Zumba Nation with thousands of zumba fanatics gathered at the Bacoor Government Center (BGC) grounds during the kick-off of the week-long festivities on Sept. 22.

Around 5,000 cyclicts also joined the (U.K.B.A.S) “Ugnayang Kapulisan, Barangay at Siklista” bike riders campaign against illegal drugs, criminality and terrorism led by city chief of police Supt. Vicente Cabatingan and Vice-Mayor Karen Sarino Evaristo on Sept. 23.
