MANILA -- Paul Zamar may just be a rookie in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) but being a veteran in the pro ranks especially in Thailand, Zamar quickly showed that he deserves a spot in Asia's premier play-for-pay cagefest.

This past week, his efforts came into fruition.

The PBA Press Corps named the Blackwater combo guard its Player of the Week following an impressive showing during the team's back-to-back wins for the week.

Zamar was clutched during the Elite's battle against the Meralco Bolts, dropping 10 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter including the game-winning triple as well as his game-saving block on Anjo Caram.

Zamar then flirted with a double-double against Rain Or Shine, making 11 points and eight rebounds.

Zamar beat teammate Allein Maliksi, Alaska’s Simon Enciso, Chris Banchero and Vic Manuel, Ginebra’s Japeth Aguilar, LA Tenorio and Mark Caguioa, Magnolia’s Paul Lee, Mark Barroca and Ian Sangalang, as well as Columbian big men Sean Anthony and Mo Tautuaa for the award given by the group of scribes covering the PBA.
