MANILA -- The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is still trying to ascertain if any Filipino was among the dead and injured in Friday’s bus accident in Ottawa, Canada.

According to Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Elmer Cato, the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa is in close coordination with local authorities to check for Filipinos involved in the accident.

The DFA reported that a double-decker bus hit a bus shelter at Ottawa's Westboro station during the afternoon rush hour, killing two passengers and one person waiting at the station and injuring 23 others.

Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson, earlier, said that a number of those injured in the collision were in serious condition. (PNA)
