MANILA -- The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) on Tuesday warned passengers bound for Hong Kong not to bring prohibited items in their luggage.
MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal has advised passengers to check the guidelines issued by both the airlines and the agency on prohibited items to avoid hassle during travel.
Last January 8, a Filipino bound for Canada was reportedly intercepted at the Hong Kong International Airport for bringing extendable batons in his check-in baggage.
MIAA also made the warning signage more visible at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to remind passengers of the list of prohibited items they cannot put in their luggage.
Passengers are advised to be mindful of the prohibited items, and to pack their own bags and check them.
This month alone, flick knives, toy guns and bullets were among the items confiscated from passengers in NAIA.
