DAVAO CITY -- Jack “The Assassin” Asis (38W-21L-5D, 19KO) of Davao City will fight Bowyn “BoMan” Morgan (19W-1L, 9KO) of New Zealand for the World Boxing Union (WBU) welterweight title in Christchurch, New Zealand on May 17.

The 33-year-old Asis, who is now a resident of Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, lost to Rivan Cesaire by a majority decision in Toowoomba last March 10.

He, however, won by a majority decision to Luke Woods on Nov. 25, 2018. He also won the vacant International Boxing Organization (IBO) World super featherweight title by technical knockout over Kye MacKenzie on April 11, 2015.

Asis lost to Malcolm Klassen in the first title defense on Aug. 5, 2016, and to Can Xu of China in the World Boxing Association (WBA) International super featherweight by unanimous decision in Xi An, Shanghai on May 7, 2017.

Morgan, on the other hand, also beat Luke Woods by unanimous decision on Sept. 7, 2018, in the IBO Asia Pacific welterweight title.

The 30-year-old Morgan won against Sebastian Singh on Dec. 15, 2018 to take the vacant Pro Box New Zealand super welterweight title. (PNA)
