Davao's Bodiongan to fight Japanese boxer in Japan

DAVAO CITY — Orthodox Marbon “Bongbong” Bodiongan of Davao City will fight Izuki Tomioka of Japan in a non-title bout on May 31 at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

The 25-year-old Bodiongan (15W-8L-2D, 11KO) beat Rege Pahayag by unanimous decision in his last fight on March 26, 2019 in Zamboanga Sibugay.

Bodiongan came from three losses, all in Japan events, including his fight with Nihito Arakawa by TKO in the 6th round of WBO Asia Pacific bout in 2017.

Tomioka (5W-2L-1D, 1KO) lost when he challenged Masayoshi Nakatani for the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) lightweight by TKO on July 29, 2018.

The 22-year-old Tomioka also lost to Shuya Masaki by split decision on Nov. 10, 2018. (PNA)
