COTABATO CITY -- Anti-narcotics agents have arrested six drug suspects and seized some PHP40,000 worth of shabu during a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Rosary Heights 7 here on Wednesday night.

Mayor Frances Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi, in her social media account, said the operation was a joint effort of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Cotabato City Police Office, the City Drug Enforcement Unit, and the Army’s 5th Special Forces Battalion.

“The operation resulted in the dismantling of another drug den in the city,” said Guiani-Sayadi who also went to the area to commend the law enforcers for a job well done.

The mayor herself continues to lead a nightly Ronda patrol around the city to curb criminal activities, through the imposition of a 10:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. curfew hours.

Col. Portia Manalad, in a report, said that law enforcers swooped on the house of Michael Mohammad alias "Teng", the principal target of the operation, at 8:30 p.m. after money and drugs changed hands between the suspect and the poseur-buyer in Sitio Talitay, Barangay Rosary Heights 7.

Five other suspects, identified as Abdulmanan Gani Mohammad alias Faisal; Silongan Tato Patadon, Benjie Ulobalang, Sherad Abedin, and the wounded Amer Hussein Ali Abedin were collared during the operation. A certain alias "Putok Sammy", however, managed to elude arrest.

Manalad said the arrested suspects were caught inside the house of Mohammad engaging in a pot session during the raid.

Seized inside the house were some 25 grams of shabu, drug paraphernalia, cellular phones, and the PHP10,000 boodle money used during the exchange deal between Mohammad and the police agent.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) are being prepared against the suspects, who are currently being locked up at the PDEA-BARMM jail facility in this city. (PNA)
