COTABATO CITY -- The Cotabato City Police Office (CCPO) has reminded the public against the use of firearms in welcoming Eid’ al Fitr celebration on June 5.

Colonel Portia Manalad, city police director, issued the reminder after expressing that many city police personnel of the Islam faith are also welcoming the end of the fasting month.

“The CCPO is one with our Muslim brothers and sisters in celebrating the end of Ramadhan,” said Manalad in a statement issued Tuesday afternoon.

She also reminded the Cotabateños “to celebrate the Eid’ al Fitr in a peaceful and safe manner to ensure a meaningful festivity”.

Manalad said residents should refrain from illegal discharges of firearms, use of firecrackers, mobile “Takbir” (motorcade), use of unauthorized materials that can create noise and use of motorcycles with earsplitting open-pipe mufflers.

“We should all enjoy Eid’ al Fitr celebration with the utmost responsibility to others’ safety and security,” Manalad said.

“Our safety and security will be achieved with the support and involvement of a responsive community,” she added. (PNA)
