Balanga knocked out of Moscow Challenger

MANILA -- Balanga failed to make past the qualifying round of the FIBA 3x3 Moscow Challenger after bowing to home side Moscow, 14-21, in the play-in at the Gorky Park in the Russian capital on Friday night.

Semen Debda set the pace for Moscow as the team raced to an 8-3 lead.

Balanga still tried to come back as the team was just down by four, 12-16, with less than two minutes left, but Mintautas Bulanovas broke Balanga's heart with the finishing deuce.

Debda finished with 10 points, while Bulanovas added six for Moscow.

Alexandr Pavlov and Yura Bespalov chipped three and two markers, respectively.

Travis Franklin led Balanga with eight points in a game where Alvin Pasaol was held to just two points.

Karl Dehesa added four points.
