ZAMBOANGA CITY--A female student was arrested while some PHP544,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized in an anti-drug operation in this southern port city, a top police official disclosed Thursday.

Maj. Mark Anthony Karanain, Police Station 6 chief, identified the arrested suspect as Adamay Sipin alias Ajing, 19, a high school student.

Karanain said Sipin was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 2:10 p.m. Wednesday at Armor Village, Barangay San Jose-Gusu, west of this city.

Karanain said Sipin was caught in possession of some PHP544,000 worth of suspected shabu packed in 20 heat-sealed plastic sachets and a bundle of boodle money topped with one genuine PHP1,000 as buy-bust money.

He said the buy-bust operation was launched following days of surveillance on the illegal drug trade of the suspect.

A case for violation of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is set to be filed against the suspect, who is detained at the headquarters of Police Station 6. (PNA)
