Maguindanao cop shot dead in North Cotabato

KIDAPAWAN CITY -- Police in Midsayap, North Cotabato, have launched a manhunt against two men who shot dead a police officer on Saturday night.

Lt. Col. Bernard Tayong, speaking for police in North Cotabato, said the Midsayap police, backed by the police provincial mobile group, have been hunting down two men who shot dead S/Sgt. Edward Pasculado Dimpaso, 45.

Dimpaso, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Midsayap, was assigned with Maguindanao police provincial office.

He was leaving the vicinity of the family-owned bakeshop in Barangay Poblacion when two men on a motorbike arrived at 8 p.m. and shot him point blank, police said.

“Dimpaso, who was in civilian clothes and unarmed at that time, died on the spot,” Tayong said in an interview here Monday.

Responding policemen found four empty shells for .45-caliber pistol at the crime scene. (PNA)
