Mechanic falls in Cotabato drug bust

COTABATO CITY -- Policemen here on Tuesday nabbed a mechanic during a drug sting operation in Barangay Rosary Heights 10 here.

Capt. Rustom Pastolero, Police Station 2 commander, identified the suspect as Esmar Bermudes, of Bagong Silang Street, Barangay Rosary Heights 5.

Seized from the suspect were several packets of shabu worth PHP5,000; the PHP500 marked money, and other pieces of evidence, Pastolera said.

“Our arresting team pounced on the suspect following an exchange of drugs and money with a poseur-buyer in front of a grocery store in Barangay Rosary Heights 10,” the police official said.

Pastolero said the suspect has long been placed under surveillance following a tip from concerned village officials and villagers.

Charges for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against the suspect currently locked up at the city police station 2 detention cell. (PNA)
