MANILA -- Balanga Chooks got the boot from the FIBA 3x3 Haining Challenger following tough losses in the pool stages in Zhejiang, China on Saturday.
Known in the local 3x3 and even five-on-five basketball circuits as the Bataan Risers, Balanga lost both its assignments to Liman and Sosnovy Bor.
Balanga missed out on stunning Liman as the team blew a 20-18 lead with 1:41 to go and saw Stefan Stojačić delivering two clutch baskets for Liman to steal a 21-20 win.
Balanga then struggled all game long against Sosnovy Bor and bowed, 10-21.
The Philippines' representation in the Haining Challenger now boils down on whether Isabela Chooks, also known as the Basilan Steel, wins a do-or-die battle against Moscow Inanomo, which is ongoing as of posting.
Isabela lost to Gagarin, 13-21, earlier Saturday. (PNA)
