Cops arrest 2 for illegal possession of firearms in Cavite

GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite – Police arrested two persons for illegal possession of firearms during the implementation of the search warrant, in line with the Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation on Thursday night.

Police Col. Paul Bometivo, the acting city police chief, identified the apprehended suspects as Jaime Tuando Petilos, 50, of Tropical Village Pabahay, Barangay San Francisco; and Jaime Presa Laurencio, 46, of St. Francis Subdivision, Barangay San Juan 1, in this city.

"We are continuing our operations against lawless elements especially on our fight against loose firearms which could be used for other forms of criminality here in GenTri City," Bometivo said in an interview.

He said the two suspects are now detained at the police detention facility as charges are filed against them for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the "Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act".

The raiding team seized from Petilos a cal. 45 Rock Island Armory, a cal. 45 Armscor, 23 cal. 45 live ammunition, a Rock Island Armory Shotgun, a Karatay shotgun, eight live shotgun shells, and a Plainfield machine M1-carbine, and eight cal. 30 live ammunition.
