CEBU CITY – The Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO-7) launched on Wednesday its “Sugyot sa Katawhan” (Public Suggestions) road safety talk show here.

LTO Regional Director Victor Emmanuel Caindec said the talk show will be held twice a month and will be broadcast via Facebook (FB) Live.

Caindec said the online forum is basically a venue where the public can interact with LTO and share their concerns, especially on road safety.

He assured that everyone will be able to talk to the LTO openly during the forum.

The online audience, he said, can call the LTO via landline, post their comments on the LTO Region 7 FB page, or air their concerns through FB Messenger.

The calls, comments, and messages will be entertained and discussed during the forum, the LTO-7 regional director said.

“Our concept is how will we bring everyone home safely. It doesn’t matter whether you are walking, biking, commuting on a jeepney, or driving your car. We want everyone home safe. That is our concept in our road safety discussions,” Caindec said.

The twice-a-month forum, he said, will also enable the LTO to clarify to the public some issues, including the alleged widespread corruption within the agency.

“Why is it important for the LTO to have this sort of discussion? This is very important because this is where the public will know the truth. There is no fake news here,” Caindec said in Cebuano.

He said they are not hiding the fact that some LTO personnel are corrupt, but added that they have already caught several of these people and dealt with them accordingly.

“The organization of LTO is not perfect, but most of our people here are doing honest work. The LTO is just like the road, where there are responsible drivers and some few drivers who give us headaches. But we are doing our best to improve our services,” he said.

Caindec was joined by Cebu City Police Office’s Traffic Patrol Group officer-in-charge Major Alan Rosario, LTO-7 legal officer Vicente Gador, and LTO ambassadress Maria Rica Cabarrubias in the inaugural FB Live airing of the online talk show. (PNA)
