MANILA -- The Bacoor City Strikers had set the most lopsided win ever in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) after ransacking Parañaque Patriots, 109-56, at the STRIKE Gym in Bacoor, Cavite on Tuesday night.

The Strikers set up the 53-point rout by outscoring the Patriots, 83-37, in the final three quarters to pull away from a relatively close 26-19 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Mark Pangilinan fired 5-for-7 from long range to finish with 20 points with one rebound, one assist, and one steal for Bacoor City, which moved up to 9-3.

Pao Castro added 17 points, one rebound, and one assist.

Jemal Vizcarra put up 11 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals for Parañaque, which fell to 3-9.

Interestingly enough, the rout happened hours after Makati initially set the new record with a 106-70 win over Soccsksargen.

The Skyscrapers blasted the Marlins from the get-go, opening a 26-8 lead after the first quarter en route to the 36-point win, which would now be the second most lopsided result of the league.

Edwin Asoro put up 18 points, going 6-for-6 from two-point range, seven rebounds, one assist, and one steal for Makati, which moved up to 9-1.

John Rey Villanueva added 14 points, three rebounds, one assist, two steals, and one block.

Jerome Juanico put up 19 points, three assists, two rebounds, and one steal for Soccsksargen, which remained winless at 0-10.

The game sandwiching the two blowouts saw Mindoro pipping Marikina, 80-75, behind a 29-point explosion from Rodel Vaygan. (PNA)
