ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Four persons were arrested while some PHP250,000 worth of illegal drugs were confiscated in two separate anti-drug operations in this southern port city, the police said Thursday.

Maj. Elmer Solon, Police Station 11 chief, identified the suspects as Munib Narido, 21; Iradji Ian Gigante, 28; Benjimar Jul Adam, 29; and Nursima Majindi, 40.

Solon said Adam and Majindi are responsible for "transporting" shabu supplies from Jolo, Sulu, to this city while Narido and Gigante sell the illegal drugs here.

Solon said except for Majindi, the other three suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation around 2:35 a.m. Thursday at a motel in Varela Street, Barangay Zone 1.

Confiscated from the three were some PHP180,000 worth of suspected shabu packed in 23 heat-sealed plastic sachets, PHP500 marked money, and two coin purses, police said.

Police said Majindi was arrested in a follow-up operation around 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Aquino Drive, Barangay Baliwasan.

Seized from Majindi were some PHP70,000 worth of suspected shabu packed in three heat-sealed plastic sachets and PHP1,000 marked money, police said.

Solon said the suspects were detained as charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them. (PNA)
