BUTUAN CITY -- Government-owned radio stations are undergoing rehabilitation to better serve the people in the dissemination of vital information, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar said here Friday.

Andanar, who met with members of the media, said efforts to rehabilitate government radio stations were being undertaken under PCOO's “Radio Rehab” program.

Under the initiative, he said, government radio stations under the Philippine Broadcasting Service (PBS), including Radyo Pilipinas, would be equipped with new and updated facilities.

The program is being implemented through the partnership of the Philippine and Chinese governments with the goal of introducing innovation to the country's communications facilities, he added.

Andanar personally visited Radyo Pilipinas - Butuan during his visit here where he presented the newly-purchased equipment for the
improvement of the broadcast studio of the radio station.

He told local reporters that nine more radio stations in the country would undergo rehabilitation.

The PCOO chief also asked the support of the media in the continuing rehabilitation of government radio stations and in the efforts of the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte to establish a better state broadcast system in the Philippines.

“It is important for us to rebuild our government radio stations,” Andanar said. (PNA)
