Couple nabbed, P1.2-M shabu; cash seized in NoCot

COTABATO CITY – Police arrested a couple and seized some PHP1.2-million worth of shabu and cash in Carmen, North Cotabato on Friday.

Brigadier Gen. Alfred Sotto Corpus, chief of Police Regional Office – 12, identified the arrested couple as Jomar and Noraisa Sampulna, of Sitio Galay, Baranga Kibayao, Carmen.

The couple was arrested under a search warrant served by joint elements of the Carmen police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency - Cotabato Province, Army’s 602nd Brigade and the police’s 4th Special Action Battalion around 4 a.m.

Seized from the suspects were 175 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of PHP1,190,000 and PHP27,700 cash.

“The couple was monitored actively engaging in illegal drug activities as their names were included on the PDEA watch list,” Corpus said in a statement.

The Sampulnas are now in the custody of PRO-12 pending the filing of charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) against them. (PNA)
