Drug suspect yields shabu, firearm in NegOr town

DUMAGUETE CITY – Anti-illegal drug operatives on Monday seized suspected shabu, a firearm, and ammunition during a buy-bust in Siaton, Negros Oriental.

A report from the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) identified the suspect as Hubert Cariño Libo-on, Jr., 39, of Purok 1, Barangay Poblacion South in La Libertad, Negros Oriental.

He is tagged as a “street-level target” in the municipal watch list of suspected drug personalities, the report said.

The suspect was arrested around 4:30 p.m. in a buy-bust by the Siaton Police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Negros Oriental in Barangay Mantuyop in Siaton, where he allegedly sold suspected shabu to an undercover operative.

Seized from him were two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, a PHP500 marked bill, three photocopied PHP500 bill used as “boodle” money, and a mobile phone.

The law enforcers also confiscated a caliber .38 revolver with Serial No. 40954 and three live bullets.

The suspect is now in the custody of the police as charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are readied against him. (PNA)
