ILOILO CITY – Ilonggos will be treated to good music on Saturday night as the Iloilo Colegio del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus and the Iloilo City government bring the Lozada Piano Trio here.

The performance of the trio, which will be held at the Colegio del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus at 7 p.m., is part of the Iloilo Summer Arts Festival (ISAF) 2020.

The ISAF 2020, launched on December 11 last year, promotes the arts and culture of Iloilo to both locals and tourists.

The trio, composed of violinist Ralph Waldo Taylan, cellist Giuseppe Andre Diestro, and pianist Ena Maria Aldecoa, gave the Ilonggos a teaser on Friday at the Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Arts of what to expect from the concert.

Miguel Antonio Davao, ISAF committee member, said the acclaimed trio has won twice in the International Paganini Competition in Genoa, Italy.

Named after the Filipino violinist Carmencita Lozada, Davao said the trio focuses primarily on classical music and promoting contemporary Filipino composers.

The trio will be playing the compositions of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Nicanor Abelardo, and Fritz Chrysler.

“It will be something that will be enjoyed by anyone who is into music and to the new audiences as well,” Taylan said in an interview.

Aldeoa, meanwhile, has expressed her excitement in performing before the Ilonggo audience.

She said Ilonggos will surely embrace classical music the way they embrace folk music, traditional dances, and traditional music.

“We assume that the audience here in Iloilo will be very enthusiastic because we believe that the language of music transcends regions and cities and countries,” she said.

In previous interviews, Leny Ledesma, ISAF committee member, said Ilonggos will be treated to more music with the upcoming performance of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra on April 27. (PNA)
