COTABATO CITY – Police authorities are hot on the trail of a motorcycle riding-in-tandem gunmen who ambushed and killed a police officer and wounded his son in an ambush in Marawi City on Thursday afternoon.
Patrolman Abdul Mojib Ditucalan, who was driving his car, was declared dead on arrival at the Amai Pakpak Medical Center in Marawi City.
In a statement Friday, the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao said the ambush could be personal.
Ditucalan and his nine-year-old son were together in a car when ambushed. His son who was seated at the back was slightly injured.
He was negotiating a narrow road on Awar Street in Marawi City when the gunmen opened fire using .45-caliber pistols.
“Ditucalan was off duty when he was waylaid,” said Brig. Gen. Marni Marcos, PRO-BARMM director.
Marcos said Marawi police investigators are still trying to establish the identity of the gunmen as of posting time. (PNA)
