COTABATO CITY -- Police agents neutralized on Tuesday morning a wanted "drug peddler" following a shootout in General Santos City.

Lt. Col. Lino Capellan, the spokesperson of Police Regional Office-12, identified the slain suspect as Cliff Ian Bermoy, of the Employees Village in Barangay Fatima, General Santos City.

“The suspect is included in the police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency’s inter-agency drug information database list,” Capellan said.

During the operation, Capellan said the suspect allegedly resisted arrest when lawmen surrounded him following a transaction with a poseur-buyer.

“He pulled a gun and fired so a shootout ensued,” Capellan said, adding the suspect was seriously hurt in the exchange of gunfire.

Bermoy was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.

Recovered from the suspect were the PHP1,000 marked money, a .38-caliber revolver with three live ammunition, and a sling bag containing eight pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu.

The pieces of drug evidence are now under the custody of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit -12 for validation and documentation. (PNA)
