COTABATO CITY – Three more patients in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) have been confirmed positive of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the region’s health ministry said Tuesday.

Dr. Zul Abas, deputy minister of the Ministry of Health-BARMM, said two of the patients were from Lanao del Sur and another in Sulu.

Abas said the patient in Sulu was a 28-year-old returning overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who had a history of travel from Saudi Arabia to Manila, then to Zamboanga and Sulu.

“He is an OFW who returned home on May 31,” he said.

In Lanao del Sur, Abas said, the two positive patients are women, aged 24 and 46, who arrived in the province Lanao on June 3 and June 5, respectively.

The 24-year-old lady has a travel history to Laguna and Manila, while the 46-year-old woman came from Manila.

Abas said both are in stable condition.

Currently, the region has a total 32 confirmed cases, seven of whom have already recovered and four of them have died. Twenty-one patients remain in various patient care centers of the region.

Maguindanao has the highest number of cases with 17, followed by Lanao del Sur with 11, while Basilan and Sulu have two positive patients each. (PNA)
