LEGAZPI CITY – At least 1,200 locally stranded individuals (LSI) are expected to arrive in Albay from Metro Manila on Friday under the provincial government's “Libreng Sakay” program.

Dr. Eva Grageda, provincial social welfare and development office chief, on Thursday said the LSIs comprise the second batch of the program's beneficiaries and will be transported by 40 commissioned buses. Upon their arrival here, they will be turned over to their corresponding local government units (LGUs) with proper health safety precautions, she added.

“On June 18, around 1200 LSIs who wish to return in Albay will be picked up in Baclaran Church and Quezon City Hall. On behalf of the Albayanos, we would like to extend our sincerest thanks to our partner offices in Metro Manila in realizing the objectives of the 'Albay Libreng Sakay, Balik Probinsya Program',” she said in an interview.

Grageda said the buses left this city on Wednesday to ferry 596 LSIs back to Manila for free.

The first batch of Libreng Sakay beneficiaries brought 513 LSIs to Manila and 607 Albayanos to the province last June 5.

All bus drivers and passengers were advised to follow the safety protocols to prevent being infected with the coronavirus disease 2019. (PNA)
