BACOLOD CITY – The Department of Health in Western Visayas (DOH-6) reported eight new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the total number of infections across the region to 332 as of Wednesday.
Six of the latest cases were from Negros Occidental while the two others were from Iloilo province.
The Negrense patients included two women, a 31-year-old and a 30-year-old, from La Carlota City as well as a 32-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man, both from Bago City. The two others were a 22-year-old woman from Sagay City and a 57-year-old man from Silay City.
The two from Iloilo were both 22-year-old men from Pototan town and Passi City.
Seven of them were identified as locally stranded individuals (LSIs) except for the patient from Passi, who is an overseas Filipino worker (OFW).
DOH-6 figures also showed that of the 332 cases, a total of 182 are still active while 11 patients have died.
A total of 139 cases have recovered, including the latest seven, who are all from Negros Occidental, included in the statistics released on Wednesday.
The newest recoveries were a 24-year-old woman from Talisay City; a 63-year-old woman from Pulupandan; a 50-year-old man from Silay City; a 43-year-old man from La Carlota City; a 35-year-old man from Binalbagan; and two men, a 46-year-old and 36-year-old, from San Carlos City.
Of the 332 confirmed cases, 275 or 83 percent were classified as asymptomatic contacts; 29 or 9 percent had influenza-like illness, and 28 or 8 percent manifested severe acute respiratory infection.
In terms of status, 157 or 47 percent were quarantined while 25 or 8 percent were admitted.
The 139 others or 42 percent were listed as recoveries while 11 or 3 percent as deaths.
The laboratory results were released by the Western Visayas Medical Center Sub-National Laboratory in Iloilo City and the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital Molecular Laboratory in Silay City. (PNA)
