Cops seize P938-K shabu in 2 Bacolod buy-busts

BACOLOD CITY – Police anti-drug operatives seized suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP938,400 in two buy-bust operations here Thursday night.

At about 10:20 p.m., personnel of Police Station 2 swooped down on a residence in Purok Paglaum, Barangay 17 that resulted in the arrest of three suspects identified as
Zerlin Magbanua, 40, a high-value individual on the watch list of the Bacolod City Police; and Jimbo Meniao, 23, and Rene Yanson, 41, both street-level individuals.

An undercover policeman bought a sachet of shabu worth PHP1,000 from the suspects, who also yielded 20 more sachets of the prohibited substance weighing about 85 grams with an estimated street value of PHP578,000.

The operatives also seized from the suspects a home-made caliber .22 revolver with 10 rounds of live ammunition, PHP2,500 cash, and drug paraphernalia.

Earlier, at about 7 p.m., operatives of the Police Regional Office 6 (Western Visayas) Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) also arrested three suspects in Purok Masagana, Barangay 6.

They were identified as Edje Geduria, Rustom del Rosario, and Richard Monton.

The team of Lt. Thurslie Castillo, head of RDEU-Negros Occidental, sent a poseur-buyer to purchase a sachet of shabu for PHP500.

This led them to recover from the suspects’ possession seven elongated and nine big sachets of shabu with an estimated street value of PHP360,400.

They also seized two cellular phones and PHP1,500 cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of illegal drugs.

The suspects were detained at the Police Station 2. (PNA)
