Bataan's Covid-19 caseload up by 65

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) continued to rise in this province with 65 new patients added, the highest recorded in a day since the spread of the dreaded virus here started.

This brought to 904 the total number of cases with 346 in active status based on the report of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) as of 10 p.m. Sunday.

Governor Albert Garcia said on Monday that tracing showed 45 of the 65 new cases had close contact with those previously tested positive of Covid-19.

Of the 45, Garcia said two came from Hermosa, five from Orani, six from Limay, 14 from Balanga City and 18 from Mariveles.

Among them are a one-year-old boy from Limay and eight-month-old girl and six-year-old boy, both from Balanga City.

The other new confirmed cases are 15 from Mariveles, three from Pilar and one each from Dinalupihan and Samal.

Meanwhile, the governor said the number of recoveries increased to 541 with the addition of 12 new ones. Eight of them are from Balanga City, two from Mariveles and one each from Dinalupihan and Orion.

Included in the list of new recoveries are two senior citizens, a 65-year-old male from Balanga City and a 67-year-old female from Dinalupihan.

The number of fatalities, on the other hand, remained at 17.

Out of 13,336 people in the province subjected to Covid-19 laboratory examinations, 904 were positive, 12,277 turned negative while 155 are still waiting for the results. (PNA)
