ILOILO CITY – The 42-strong force of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6) arrived safely in this city on Friday after completing their tour of duty in Cebu.

PRO-6 deployed 53 personnel led by Major Antonio Benitez to augment the police forces in Cebu province during the height of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) crisis in the area last June 18.

However, one of them had to cut short the tour of duty due to a domestic concern. Also, two were found positive for coronavirus when they were subjected to a swab test prior to their trip back to Iloilo. Accompanied by their supervisor, Lt. Ryan Orleans, the two are still in Cebu together with seven others to complete their quarantine period.

Col. Ross C. Alvarado, PRO-6 Deputy Regional Director for Operations, welcomed the contingent at the Port Area of the Philippine Ports Authority in Fort San Pedro here, saying that top officials of Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) was full of gratitude for their services rendered.

“While there were positive, we will pray for their quick recovery,” he added.

Alvarado said the formal ceremony to welcome the PRO-6 personnel back to their respective units will be held once all have completed their quarantine.

Those who were infected with Covid-19 will be awarded the Medalya ng Kadakilaan while the Medalya ng Kagalingan will be given to other members of the contingent.

Data from the Regional Personnel and Records Management Division showed that the 53-man contingent is composed of six personnel from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (PPO), one each from the Iloilo City police office and Guimaras provincial police office, and 45 from the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit.
