BARMM logs 17 new Covid-19 cases, 4 recoveries

COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao has recorded 17 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases as of Sunday, 11 of which are from Lanao del Sur.

In a report, Dr. Ameril Usman, Ministry of Health – BARMM officer-in-charge, said 8 of 11 cases are from Marawi City in Lanao del Sur, while the towns of Lumbayanague, Tubaran, and Marogong in the same province have one case each.

He added that the towns of Datu Odin Sinsuat and Talayan in Maguindanao also have one each, while Simunul and Bongao in Tawi-Tawi have one and three cases, respectively.

Four Covid-19 recoveries were recorded on the same day, the report said.

Since March this year, the BARMM has a cumulative total of 918 confirmed cases with 703 recoveries for a 77 percent recovery rate. Active cases are at 179, with 36 deaths.

Of the active cases, Lanao del Sur has 83; Tawi-Tawi (63); Maguindanao (30); Basilan (2); and Sulu (1). (PNA)
