Soccsksargen lists 36 new Covid-19 recoveries

COTABATO CITY – Recoveries from coronavirus disease (Covid-19) continued on an upswing in Region 12 (Soccsksargen) as 36 patients got well as of Monday night.

“It is still a see-saw battle up to his point but we are hopeful that more recoveries would take place in the region compared to new confirmed cases,” said Arjohn Gangoso, speaking for the Department of Health (DOH)-12.

The new recoveries were recorded in South Cotabato with 23; followed by Cotabato City (8); General Santos City (5); and one each for North Cotabato and Sarangani.

Amid the recoveries, 30 new confirmed cases were logged on the same day with Cotabato City registering 10 infections, followed by South Cotabato (9), General Santos City (6), North Cotabato (3), and Sultan Kudarat (2).

“The Covid-19 threat is still there so we are reiterating our appeal to the people to stay home and avoid contracting the disease outside,” Gangoso said.

On Sunday night, the DOH-12 also logged 26 new recoveries against 16 new cases in the region.

Soccsksargen's cumulative cases since March this year is at 1, 374 with 856 recoveries, translating to a 62-percent recovery rate. Active cases are at 483, with 34 deaths.

Of the active cases, South Cotabato recorded 168 or 35 percent of the total number; General Santos City – 153 (32 percent); Cotabato City – 79 (16 percent); North Cotabato – 57 (12 percent) Sultan Kudarat – 16 (3 percent); and Sarangani – 10 (2 percent). (PNA)
