Nonagenarian, 27 others beat Covid-19 in Bataan

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – A 91-year-old woman is so far the oldest survivor of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the province, being one of the 28 who recovered from the dreaded illness, the latest report of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) here said.

Gov. Albert Garcia said on Thursday Nazaria Crisostomo or "Impong Nene" of Orion town has completed 14 days of quarantine.

She is one of 12 new recoveries from Orion. The others are from Mariveles (five); Limay and Morong (four each) and Hermosa, Orani, and this city (one each).

The total number of those who have recovered from Covid-19 in Bataan climbed to 2,418.

“Patunay lang na kahit itinuturing na high-risk ang matatanda sa Covid-19, makarerecover pa rin basta't mabibigyan ng tama at sapat na atensyong medikal gayon din ng pangangalaga ng pamilya at suporta ng ating pamahalaan (This is proof that even if the elderly are considered high risk for Covid-19, they can still recover as long as they are given proper and adequate medical attention, as well as care and support by the family and our government),” Garcia said.

Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 patients in the province rose to 2,665 with 195 active cases after 19 tested positive for the virus.

The new cases are from Mariveles (seven); Orani (five); Abucay (four); Hermosa (two) and this city (one). (PNA)
