COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has registered an 88 percent recovery rate against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), an official of the regional inter-agency task force (IATF) against Covid-19 said Monday.

“Currently, the BARMM has 2, 026 recoveries out of its cumulative confirmed cases of 2,314 since March this year for a high recovery percentage,” Mohd Asnin Pendatun, speaking for the Bangsamoro IATF, said.

Of the recovered cases, he said Lanao del Sur has the most number at 977, followed by Maguindanao with 514; Basilan, 156; Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, 117; and the 120 locally-stranded individuals from the BaSulTa (Basilan-Sulu-Tawi-Tawi) area who were offloaded in Cagayan de Oro City and later transported at a Maguindanao isolation facility.

On Sunday, he said the region recorded only three new cases, all coming from Maguindanao province.

“We are still aspiring to ‘flattening the curve’ for the region soon,” Pendatun said.

As of Sunday, active cases were at 204, with Lanao del Sur registering 63; Sulu, 58; Maguindanao, 56; Basilan, 24; and Tawi-Tawi, 3.

There have been 84 Covid–19 deaths in the region since the pandemic was declared in March this year. (PNA)
