COTABATO CITY – Health authorities in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) said more patients are recovering from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the area, citing the 92 percent recovery rate recorded as of Monday evening.

The region’s Ministry of Health said the area registered 33 new Covid-19 recoveries, while only two new cases were added--one each for the provinces of Maguindanao and Sulu.

Confirmed cases since March totaled 2,478, with 2,280 patients having recovered from the virus as of Monday evening.

“We should just remain watchful in beating the virus,” said Dr. Amirel Usman, acting MOH-BARMM chief, in an interview on Tuesday.

“I believe that we are doing well with our campaign against the disease,” Usman added, even as he urged BARMM residents to continue practicing basic health protocols.

He said that local government units are also constantly training new contact tracers with the Inter-Agency Task Force's help.

Active cases in the region are at 103, with Sulu having 37; Lanao del Sur, 30; Basilan, 20; Maguindanao, 13; and Tawi-Tawi, three.

Death related to Covid-19 is at 95. (PNA)
