MANILA – Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar on Sunday wished Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Lloyd Dino speedy recover days after testing positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“We extend our prayers of speedy recovery and good health to Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Secretary Michael Lloyd Diño after he recently contracted Covid-19,” Andanar said in a press statement.

He expressed hope to see Dino back in work in the soonest possible time.

“May Secretary Dino’s recovery be immediate in order for him to continue fulfilling his duties and in assisting the President and the whole Duterte administration in the fight against Covid-19 and recovery from the pandemic in the Visayas region,” he added.

In a statement released last Monday, Dino said he was exposed to an individual who earlier tested positive for the virus.

“I am currently under isolation after testing positive on Feb. 14, Sunday for SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2),” he said.

He encouraged those who met him during the event to also undergo mandatory isolation.

Assistant Secretary Jonji Gonzales of the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) said Dino had himself tested for the virus on Feb. 14 after his driver tested positive for the virus.

He said they were “undergoing quarantine (and) following health protocols.”

OPAV staff undergoing quarantine were also directed to work remotely for as long as their health condition may allow.

To continue performing his duties, he said Dino may send representative/s to meetings with other government agencies.

“As what has already been practiced, events that need his presence can be done through his phone via teleconference or Zoom,” Gonzales said. (PNA)
