BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Caraga Region (DSWD-13) has assured that it has enough supply of food packs to respond to the needs of local government units (LGUs), especially those that are affected by Typhoon Bising (Surigae).

“Our action teams are in the municipal, city, and provincial levels working closely with the LGUs as we experience some weather disturbance due to typhoon Bising,” Marko Davey Reyes, of the DSWD-13 information office, told Philippine News Agency on Monday.

He added that DSWD-13 has 3,972 available food packs ready for delivery to LGUs in Caraga.

The available food packs worth PHP1.6 million are prepositioned in different strategic areas in Caraga.

Reyes said that the agency has not received any request for augmentation from LGUs in the area as of Monday.

No untoward incidents

Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands provinces were placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 on Sunday.

Roberto Parada of the Surigao del Norte provincial information office said no untoward incidents were reported in the province related to Typhoon Bising.

“Gov. Francisco Matugas alerted the disaster response councils in the province since Saturday (April 17), including the Engineering and Logistics Offices for possible effects of Typhoon Bising,” Parada said. (PNA)
