MANILA – The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) will deploy 1,758 personnel to keep Labor Day activities on Saturday safe and orderly, as the local government urged its constituents to just stay home.
Mayor Joy Belmonte reminded the public through a statement on Friday that the city is still under the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) and mass gathering is still not allowed.
"Nananawagan po ako sa ating mga residente na kung maaari manatili na lang po kayo sa inyong mga bahay kung wala namang mahalagang pupuntahan. Nasa ilalim pa rin tayo ng MECQ at ipinagbabawal pa rin ang mass gathering ayon sa IATF [Inter-Agency Task Force} guidelines (I am calling on our residents to please stay home if you have nothing important to do outside. We are still under the MECQ and mass gatherings are not allowed under IATF guidelines)," she stated.
QCPD Director Brig. Gen. Antonio Yarra said in a statement that residents staying home "will prevent the spread of Covid-19".
The QC Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) has also prepared for any medical and rescue assistance, while the Task Force for Transport and Traffic Management will have 282 enforcers maintaining health protocols in community pantries, cash assistance payouts, and vaccination sites.
Additional personnel from the law and order cluster, as well as from the Department of Public Order and Safety, Market Development and Administration Department, Task Force Disiplina, and Barangay Public Safety Officers from different barangays will also be deployed for Saturday’s event. (PNA)
