CEBU CITY – With the arrival here of 56,000 doses of CoronaVac vaccines for Central Visayas last Friday, the city government resumed on Monday the vaccination of senior citizens.
“Our Cebu City Health Department has announced that we are resuming the inoculation for our senior citizens,” Mayor Edgardo Labella said in a mix of Cebuano and English via social media.
Of the latest delivered doses of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines from China’s Sinovac Biotech, some 10,000 were allocated for this city.
Prior to this, the city was able to inoculate 4,876 residents.
The elderlies from different barangays flocked to three vaccinations centers –Robinsons Galleria, University of Cebu-Banilad Campus, and SM Seaside City Cebu.
The seniors are listed under the A2 category of the National Deployment Plan for Covid-19 vaccination.
Labella urged them to register ahead through www.PaBakunaTa.com or https://mics.cebucity.gov.ph/vims/page/register and wait for a text message for their assigned schedule to avoid inconvenience.
Walk-ins are not allowed, the mayor said, and urged those who want to get the jabs to visit the inoculation site only on their schedule, which they can get upon registering online.
“Our Vaccine Operations Center has done that so that people won’t flock to the sites and for easy processes,” he said.
Labella reminded the senior citizens and patients who are getting the vaccine shots to continue observing the minimum health protocols against Covid-19.
Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, Department of Health (DOH)-Central Visayas chief pathologist and Covid-19 spokesperson, said vaccination and strict observance of the health protocols are important aspects in the fight against the virus. (PNA)
