LEGAZPI CITY – The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) on Saturday confiscated some PHP3.4 million worth of suspected shabu from two high-value targets (HVT) in a drug sting in Naga City.

PRO-5 Bicol spokesperson Maj. Maria Luisa Calubaquib said suspects Fedincio Salazar and Rey Flores, both 38 and residents of Barangay Puro in Canaman town, are considered notorious illegal drug pushers operating in Camarines Sur.

"They were arrested in an anti-drug operation while the suspects were caught selling shabu to a police posing as a buyer in barangay San Francisco at around 10:15 a.m.," she said in an interview on Sunday.

Confiscated during the operation by the police operatives were one self-sealing transparent plastic bag containing suspected shabu weighing around 500 grams, and one genuine PHP1,000 bill on top of the 11 bundles of PHP1,000 boodle money used as buy-bust money.

Calubaquib said the suspects were taken to the city police custodial facility while waiting for the formal filing of charges for possession and trading of illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, at least 621 police officers graduated from Basic Internal Security Operations Course (BISOC) on Friday at PRO-5 Grandstand, Camp BGen Simeon A. Ola here.

Calubaquib said the graduates will be assigned to different provinces and cities in the region.

"The training is necessary to strengthen the police force in solving crimes most particularly in insurgency and terrorism in the region," she added.

In a statement, Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, PRO-5 regional director, said the intensified cleanliness policy launched by new Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar aims to clean up not just the police force but also offices and different areas of responsibilities for “cleaner and better change in the organization”.

Estomo also reminded the newly graduate police officers of his advocacy to sustain the needs of the people in terms of security and health. (PNA)
