BUTUAN CITY – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) 13 (Caraga) said a total of 76,774 medical front-liners and Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APORs) benefited from the continuing free ride program of the agency.

The total number served covered the period from May until June 8 this year, LFTRB-13 OIC Director Maria Kristina E. Cassion told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) Wednesday.

“The free ride is under the Service Contracting Program of the agency that covered 24 routes in the different areas in Caraga region,” Cassion said.

Of the total number of beneficiaries, 24,220 are health care workers while 52,554 are APORs.

Health care workers who report to work in health facilities and render services during the time of the pandemic in the provinces of Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, and Surigao del Norte, and Butuan City were directly served under the program, she said.

The APORs who are considered essential workers both in government and private institutions from the said areas also benefited from the program.

The agency also announced that each of the onboard drivers of Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs), who rendered services under the free ride program from May 1 to 31 and from June 1 to 15, would receive PHP20,000 one-time incentives.

The onboard drivers will also receive additional PHP7,000 incentives each if they log in to the Systems App of the agency for five consecutive days in a week of service.

Cassion thanked the PUV drivers for their active participation in the free ride program of the LTFRB.

“During this time of the pandemic, the program is a great help to our front-liners and the essential workers who continue to render their services to the people,” she said. (PNA)
