MANILA – Technology firm Cisco has been continuously aiding some government agencies, as hybrid work has become a dominant practice amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

Through its Webex Suite, the company provides video conferencing platform to organizations with a minimum number of users.

"The Department of Health (DOH) has already logged over two million minutes in meetings and consultations as of last year," Cisco Philippines managing director Karrie
Ilagan reported in a virtual presser on Wednesday.

She added that the Senate of the Philippines conducts some seven-hour sessions via Webex on a daily basis.

Ilagan said Cisco has provided equipment to the DOH as part of the firm's Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) program. CDA aims to boost the country's digital resiliency and digitization.

"We aim to deliver innovations in technology that can create pathways to economic prosperity, continue to connect the unconnected," she said.

The Department of Agriculture (DA) recently approached Cisco, asking if it would be able to help the agency to have a platform for around 3,000 participants virtually.

The DA, she said, plans to hold the National Food Security Summit via Webex.

As for the private sector, institutions like the International Center for Beginning Beginners has been online classes also using Webex, Ilagan added.

She said over the last six months, Cisco has added features on Webex to provide a more flexible and inclusive user experience. (PNA)
