MANILA – The Pasay City government on Thursday said it has distributed 56.76 percent of cash subsidy or "ayuda" to the low-income families affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila.
The city government said the local Social Welfare and Development Division (SWDD) has given out a total of PHP202.5 million government emergency assistance to 202,486 individual beneficiaries residing in 111 out of 201 barangays as of August 18.
The city government started posting the list of beneficiaries on August 11, with some 69,542 heads of households received the pandemic cash subsidy during the payout.
Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano earlier said she will ask for an extension of the distribution of the city's ECQ cash aid payout for another two weeks.
Pasay received a PHP356 million ECQ subsidy from the national government.
In Pasig City, the local government has distributed PHP288 million worth of cash assistance to some 92,645 families.
About 42.25 percent out of 288,032 families have received the "ayuda" from its PHP650 million allocated ECQ subsidy funds.
The city government also distributed grocery food packs to Pasig's expanded pockets of poverty.
Pasay and Pasig have started their Ayuda payout on August 11.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government directed the local government units to give cash assistance to their constituents within 15 days upon receipt of the funds.
In-kind assistance should be given within 30 days. (PNA)
