ANGELES CITY, Pampanga – A four-storey building will soon rise at the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (RLMMC), formerly the Ospital Ning Angeles (ONA), to bring more health services to residents and those from nearby communities.
Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. led on Wednesday the groundbreaking ceremony for the hospital building that will be installed with some PHP100-million worth of state-of-the-art medical equipment once completed.
Lazatin said the building project is a dream come true for him, and for his late father, former Mayor Carmelo "Tarzan" Lazatin.
"Sa araw na ito po, matutupad na ang aking matagal ng pangarap at pangarap din ng aming ama, Mayor Tarzan Lazatin, na makapagpagawa ng mas malaki at mas makabagong ospital para sa mga Angeleños (This day, a long-cherished dream and also the dream of our father Mayor Tarzan Lazatin, to construct a bigger and more modern hospital for the Angeleños will come true)," he said in a social media post.
Apart from this, the city government is also acquiring additional dialysis machines to address the needs of Angeleños, especially those from the marginalized sector.
Lazatin said that together with his brother, Pampanga First District Rep. Carmelo "Jon" Lazatin II, they will continue to improve the health services for Angeleños.
The mayor also said in the face of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, the RLMMC has extended its services not only to the local residents but also to those from nearby towns and cities who are battling the dreaded disease.
The Angeles city government is one of the local government units in the country that is implementing a blend of vaccination programs, including the "Ronda Bakuna sa Barangay" and the "Sundo Bakuna sa Barangay" -- both delivering inoculation services right at the doorsteps of the residents. (PNA)
