MANILA – Around 200,000 formal sector workers who were displaced by the implementation of Alert Level 3 in Metro Manila and other areas in the country will benefit from the Covid-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

“Close to 200,000 workers will benefit from our PHP1 billion under CAMP,” Labor Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay said in a virtual forum Wednesday.

At the same time, Tutay said they are looking to start accepting applications next week.

“Hopefully starting next week, we will open our system for application of CAMP for the formal sector affected by Level 3 onwards or even higher,” she added.

Under the CAMP, beneficiaries will receive a one-time cash assistance amounting to PHP5,000

Tutay said they will prioritize workers that were affected by permanent closure or retrenchment and temporary closure of establishments.

DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III earlier reported that there are 11,500 workers who are affected by permanent closure of the establishments or by retrenchment.

As of January 15, Tutay said there are over 2,000 employees affected by temporary closures under Alert Level 3.

Companies or individuals applicants may file their application through the DOLE online application system, reports.dole.gov.ph. (PNA)
