SULTAN MASTURA, Maguindanao – A drug suspect was arrested and more than PHP1 million were seized during a buy-bust here, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency - Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM) disclosed Friday.
In an interview by reporters, Agent Asnawi Salik, a PDEA-BARMM senior officer, identified the suspect as Yusoph Gumander, 37, of Barangay Bungabong in this town.
Salik said the suspect was collared following an entrapment on Thursday afternoon.
“He (Gumander) attempted to flee but found himself surrounded by plainclothes agents after the transaction with our poseur-buyers was carried out,” Salik said.
Seized from the suspect were 150 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated cost of PHP1,020,000; the PHP300,000 boodle money, a pouch, a mobile phone, PHP2,000 cash, a motorcycle, and various identification cards.
Salik said it took them one month to monitor the activities of Gumander until he agreed to transact with undercover agents along the national highway in Barangay Macabiso here at about 2 p.m.
Gumander, now detained at the PDEA custodial facility, will be charged with the violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
