Roadside bomb goes off as Maguindanao pol’s convoy passes by

DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao – Police are still trying to determine the people behind a roadside bomb that exploded along the national highway here while a convoy of local candidates was passing by on Tuesday afternoon.

Talking to reporters here Wednesday, Capt. Fayeed Cana, Maguindanao provincial police office spokesperson, said nobody was injured in the explosion.

Initial investigation showed that the convoy of reelectionist Vice Governor Lester Sinsuat and his party was headed for Barangay Dalican and passing by Sitio Baka, Barangay Makir, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao at 4 p.m. when the blast occurred.

“The explosion happened about 100 meters from the last vehicle in the convoy,” Cana said.

“We can’t say as of now if it was for the convoy or somebody else,” he said, adding that investigation is still ongoing. (PNA)
